Very cool app. “ Nagare syncs your data through iCloud and makes this context available to your agent through MCP.” how did you do this part? I thought iCloud was locked down, especially for access via an MCP.

> copying over commitments I’d already recorded was labor-intensive, and assigning a time to every item made the plan feel rigid.
Sometimes the friction is the point. It forces you to think about what is actually a priority and what is cruft.
That said, this is a cute idea. If removing the friction helps you make a plan and stick to it roll with it.

Definitely! I do think friction can encourage intentionality. Though I found that after a few days, the copying became background noise and I stopped giving it much thought. Revisiting my project priorities every so often and having those decisions propagate to tasks automatically has worked better for me

Nice app, clear presentation. Congrats on the launch.
However, I’m quite surprised this to appear on the top page of HN. I’ll be upfront that I’m asking this with a bit of envy, but:
What is special about this app compared to the hundreds of to-do apps being released every day?

Thanks! I've put a lot of care into this, so glad to hear that. The big win for me is simplicity. Things and similar apps have lots of ways to organize stuff: areas, someday, inbox, anytime, etc. Calendars also have a bunch of fields I rarely use, like location and reminders. Most of the time, I just want a simple way to put my day in order, identify what's important, and dump notes into items without worrying too much about structure

Hey Jarvis, move my 2pm to 10am. Proceed to wait 10s for extremely compute hungry system to do something that you could have done almost instantly by understanding how to use your device and or having any desire to move your fingers. Next.

I've been having a lot of fun using Dots to capture things while shopping or in the middle of work. I also like having an agent keep an eye on my plans and notice things I might miss, without me having to remember to check everything myself. Though I agree that quick changes can be done faster manually

What if you’re otherwise occupied, e.g. driving?

Siri has helped me with my clinical ADHD’s executive function failure by allowing me to create todo lists and appointments before the dopamine drops or I am distracted.
So yes, there is reasons.

You find yourself rejiggering your personal calendar very often while driving?
vibrio 22 hours ago [-]
I do, and I’m pretty militant about distracted driving. Long drives are captive time to think. Not rarely is there a “oh snap, that needs to get done on Tuesday not Friday” moment. Adjusting that hands free in natural language is useful.

Live a little. Try to imagine the lives beyond yours. It is really fascinating once you internalise how unique your circumstances are, and how the same is true for others.

I guess I could try taking up more hobbies while driving my car.

Again, you’re insisting on your condition. That is what is stopping you from seeing the world for what it probably is.

cool! how does the agent side work? mcp/cli? from my experience i found out agents do much better with a cli they can call and a skill rather than handing them massive apis and documentations (i.e mcp lol). im curios what you chose
shmilia 17 hours ago [-]
I went with remote MCP! I wanted it accessible/convenient to hosted agents without a local computer dependency

If I move an appointment to the morning, do the untimed tasks around it move too, or stay put?
speakspokespok 1 days ago [-]
There's a todo app I'm working on that is meant to mirror the status of an existing kanban board using the api integration from kanboard. (So you can self host it all). Kanboard acts as the project flow, and the ios app sync adds ios 'tasks' and calendar sync. I thought it would be easier than it is to finish. A Kanboard based life is a pretty good one though.
shmilia 17 hours ago [-]
Changing a time and reordering the list are separate operations, so the untimed tasks would stay put (assuming that by "move an appointment" you mean changing its time)

This UI is a straight up copy of Things.

Is the app not available in EU?
shmilia 17 hours ago [-]
Not currently, sorry! I haven't enabled EU distribution
